Take Supplements That Filter Blue Light
If you're not keen on the idea of wearing those blue light blocking glasses or you really don’t want to use a blue light filter, another option is taking vitamins that naturally block blue wavelengths of light.
Such vitamin supplements contain the pigments lutein and zeaxanthin. These two dietary carotenoids are naturally found in green, leafy veggies and bright-colored citrus fruits.
Specifically, these pigments have compounds in them that absorb blue wavelengths of light. There's research suggesting lutein and zeaxanthin protect parts of the eye from cell-related oxidative damage.
And a recent study in 48 healthy young adults showed that taking blue light blocking vitamins for 6 months led to significant improvement in overall sleep quality, headache frequency, eye strain, eye fatigue, and all visual performance measures, versus placebo.
